Which English Premier League Teams Do These WWE Stars Support?

Which English Premier League Teams Do These WWE Stars Support?. The English Premier League season is almost upon us, but before that several of the teams in the league hit The States for a pre-season “Premier League Summer Series’. This gives some WWE stars the chance to perhaps see some of their favorites take to the pitch in a rare chance to watch some of England’s best teams go at it.

Many members of the WWE Universe may be interested in knowing who exactly the members of the WWE roster support and follow, so we’ll take a look at some of those who are fans of Premier League teams specifically. Sorry, Wade Barrett, Preston North End will not be getting a mention.

Sheamus may very well be the biggest follower of the English Premier League out of all of those in WWE, and he, much like many other Irish people, is a big follower of Liverpool Football Club, the most successful team in the country.

Sheamus has even been known to sport a Liverpool shirt on WWE programming, for instance when Monday Night RAW headed to Manchester, England. Liverpool are, of course, major rivals with Manchester United, so Sheamus received the scorn of the audience on that occasion. Sheamus recently featured on The Overlap US, locking former Manchester United captain Gary Neville in a Boston Crab after their discussions over soccer and WWE.

Finn Balor: Tottenham Hotspur

Finn Balor was absolutely overjoyed recently, and that is due to Tottenham Hotspur winning the UEFA Europa League competition in the 2024/2025 season – and the Judgment Day leader was handed the opportunity to go and watch their final victory in Bilbao, Spain.

The former Universal Champion took videos of himself celebrating with fans, with the team finally finding some trophy success after 18 years worth of drought. Balor, much like Sheamus, is one of the top soccer fans in the WWE locker room.

Triple H: West Ham United

Several WWE wrestlers who aren’t necessarily fans of the sport end up at some point siding with a team for random reasons. In the case of WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H, he became a supporter of London-based West Ham United out of nowhere.

It is safe to say that Triple H isn’t the biggest follower of soccer, jokingly stepping over a West Ham centered question thrown at him during the Money In The Bank 2023 post-show press conference. He has been a big advocate of the West Ham fanbase, comparing them to the WWE Universe, explaining why he chose them as his English club.

Pete Dunne: Tottenham Hotspur

If you’re a Brit, you can tell instantly that Pete Dunne is a brummy (otherwise known as somebody from The Midlands area of the UK, specifically near Birmingham). He did once visit Molineux Stadium – home of Wolverhampton Wanderers – during his time as NXT UK Champion, alongside fellow NXT UK roster members Tyler Bate and Trent Seven. However, Dunne seems more allied to Tottenham Hotspur, much like several other WWE wrestlers.

Over the years, Pete Dunne has visited the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium multiple times, been pictured with their jerseys, and has attended games – most recently their UEFA Europa League final game against Manchester United. Dunne hasn’t seemed to have explicitly stated what team he supports, but we’re assuming it is Spurs.

John Cena: Tottenham Hotspur

Finn Balor isn’t the only follower of Tottenham Hotspur on the current day WWE roster, though he is certainly more of an avid fan than John Cena, who selected the team as his English Premier League favorite. During WWE’s 2008 UK Tour, Cena visited the former home of the team, White Hart Lane, posing for photos with the club’s jersey, being inherited by the club as a high profile fan.

The WWE wrestler turned movie star has retained this allegiance in the years since, picking them whenever asked.

JD McDonagh: Liverpool

JD McDonagh is another Irishman whose support ended up landing with Liverpool Football Club. He has been spotted in the past wearing a Liverpool jersey, and has also previously celebrated their English Premier League title win alongside Sheamus.

McDonagh had publicly slammed the team though, back when the club were planning to be part of a breakaway selection of teams who were intending to form their own “European Super League”, which was admonished by almost everyone, leading to its immediate cancellation only a couple of days after its launch. Controversially, JD McDonagh was spotted alongside Finn Balor in a Tottenham Hotspur jersey earlier this year. Some Liverpool fans might not be too pleased with that.

Seth Rollins: West Ham United

Triple H isn’t the only WWE star to have chosen West Ham United as their favourite Premier League team, though Seth Rollins’ journey to being a “Hammer” came via a different route. When playing the signature console game “FIFA” as it was then known, Rollins stumbled upon West Ham United and fell in love, and specifically was a fan of former player Andy Carroll – a towering centre forward known for his huge physical presence and luxurious ponytail.

Interestingly, Triple H once stated that Carroll would’ve made a good WWE superstar due to his size and strength. West Ham United would eventually gift Rollins his own team jersey, welcoming him to the fanbase.
